S2 PAUD FIP Unesa and Alumni Association Conduct Community Service Program in Bali to Strengthen Teachers’ and Parents’ Capacity in Supporting Children’s Development

adung, Bali — The Master’s Program in Early Childhood Education (S2 PAUD), Faculty of Education (FIP), Universitas Negeri Surabaya (Unesa), in collaboration with the S2 PAUD Alumni Association (IKA S2 PAUD), conducted a Community Service Program (PKM) in partnership with the Indonesian Association of Early Childhood Educators and Education Personnel (HIMPAUDI) of Badung Regency, Bali.

The program was held on Thursday–Friday, 27–28 August 2026, at the Meeting Room on the 3rd Floor of the Badung Regency DPRD Building, Pusat Pemerintahan (Puspem) Kabupaten Badung, Bali. The activity carried the theme “Understanding and Supporting Children with Developmental Needs: Building Communication, Self-Regulation, and Children’s Independence.”

The program represents one of the university’s contributions to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 on Quality Education and SDG 5 on Gender Equality. Through a combination of workshops and parenting sessions, S2 PAUD FIP Unesa seeks to strengthen teachers’ and parents’ understanding and capacity to support children’s development while promoting the equal involvement of both fathers and mothers in parenting.

The program was attended by early childhood education teachers and parents, including both fathers and mothers. The involvement of both parents was emphasized as an important aspect of creating awareness that parenting and supporting children’s development are shared responsibilities.

The sessions were delivered by Dr. Ruqoyyah Fitri, Coordinator of the S2 PAUD Study Program at FIP Unesa, with the support of Dr. Yes Matheos and Dr. Suharti, as well as representatives of the S2 PAUD alumni. The sessions addressed various aspects of children’s developmental needs, particularly positive communication, self-regulation, and the development of children’s independence in their daily lives.

Participants demonstrated strong enthusiasm throughout the program, particularly during the discussion sessions. They actively shared responses, experiences, and perspectives on various challenges encountered in supporting children’s development both at home and in educational settings.

For parents, the program provided valuable insights into the importance of sharing parenting responsibilities. Participants expressed their commitment to applying the knowledge gained from the parenting sessions in their daily interactions and support for their children.

Meanwhile, participating early childhood education teachers highlighted that the workshop provided valuable additional knowledge and perspectives relevant to their professional practice. They also expressed their hope that similar activities could be continued through follow-up sessions with more in-depth discussions.

The Chairperson of HIMPAUDI Badung Regency, Ida Ayu Putu Utami Dewi, S.Pd., M.Pd.H., expressed her appreciation for the program. She stated that the parenting and workshop materials delivered by S2 PAUD FIP Unesa were highly relevant and needed by early childhood education teachers and parents, particularly those raising children with special needs.

This Community Service Program reflects the commitment of S2 PAUD FIP Unesa to extending the impact of academic knowledge to the wider community. Collaboration among universities, alumni, professional organizations, educators, and families is expected to contribute to the development of a high-quality and inclusive early childhood education ecosystem, while strengthening the involvement of both parents in supporting children’s growth and development.
